2017 Pegasus World Cup Odds Released

2017 Pegasus World Cup oddsArrogate and California Chrome are at the front of the 2017 Pegasus World Cup odds

The 2017 Pegasus World Cup odds are finally live, and there is literally only one surprise. California Chrome will enter as the 6/5 favorite, with Arrogate a shade behind at 7/5. The only other horse that comes close to them is the vaunted Keen Ice at 12/1. Every other horse is getting really, really long odds.

These numbers aren’t shocking given the experience of the top two choices. Arrogate has run in just races, winning both the 2016 renditions of the Travers Stakes and the Breeders’ Cup Classic. In the latter, he edged California Chrome with one of the most brilliant performances I have ever witnessed. By comparison, the now six-year-old California Chrome has a sterling record of 16-4-1 over 25 starts. He’s also collected over $14 million in career earnings.

Arrogate’s 2017 Pegasus World Cup odds are totally fair given that we’ve only seem twice in a stakes race and he’s the obvious candidate to back given how well he ran at Santa Anita during the world championships. The smartest play you could possibly make is some type of exacta on the two. If you’re pressing me, I prefer Arrogate simply because of his absurdly high speed ratings by comparison.

Keen Ice was last out finishing second at the Harlan’s Holiday and holds the tightest odds, but he’ll be pursued by Shaman’s Ghost at 20/1 for third overall. The real dark horse candidate in the bunch was actually Gun Runner, but he eventually withdraw from the competition. In his place is War Story who is getting a mark of 30/1 in the 2017 Pegasus World Cup Odds.

We’ve always known that this was going to be a two-horse race, but the profile of the race and immense purse made available was supposed to attract some stiffer competition. The placing of the Pegasus right in the beginning of the season doesn’t really pander to what horse men and competitors are used to, but with Arrogate and California Chrome leading the way there’s going to be plenty of interest. To really cash in on the 2017 Pegasus World Cup odds, you’re going to have to parlay the two of them together. It’s a no-brainer, the only decision you have to make is the order.
