Unique Bella Preps for Santa Ysabel Stakes

Kentucky Oaks Favorite Unique Bella Sharp in Recent Workout

The lone Kentucky Oaks Future Wager opens Friday, Feb. 24 at 9 a.m. and closes Sunday at 3:30. Unique Bella is the 8-5 choice in early betting for the Oaks. The talented 3-year-old filly is ticketed for the Grade I Santa Anita Oaks on April 8, and she worked 5 furlongs Thursday morning at Santa Anita in 1:00.20 as she prepares for a start in the Grade II Santa Ysabel Stakes at Santa Anita on March 4.

“She went very easy,” said Dan Ward, trainer Jerry Hollendorfer’s assistant. “It was an easy work, like always. She was nice and smooth and very relaxed. Edgar (Rodriguez, regular exercise rider) has got her going off slow and coming home fast. I see her getting more and more relaxed as time goes by. We had her getting her last eighth in :11 and four fifths.”

Unique Bella has won 3-straight races including a pair of graded stakes starts in 2017. She won both of those by more than 7 lengths at Santa Anita.

Bred in Pennsylvania, Unique Bella is the well-bred galloping gray daughter of Tapit out of 2010 Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic (G1) winner Unrivaled Belle. Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer has indicated he will keep her running against the fillies rather than pursue the Kentucky Derby trail.

Kentucky Oaks future wagering is available Sunday at racetracks and satellite wagering facilities throughout North America and online at TwinSpires.com and other online internet wagering platforms. This is the only Future Wager pool for the Oaks.

A total of 23 individual interests plus the mutual field (8-1) are available for the Kentucky Oaks future pool. Additional information, horses and odds are available at KentuckyDerby.com.
